Refund and Cancellation Policy

Middlesex Notary Co is a mobile notary and document services provider. All services require preparation, scheduling, travel time, and compliance with Massachusetts notary law. This Refund and Cancellation Policy explains how refunds and cancellations are handled for all appointments and apostille services.
By scheduling an appointment, you acknowledge and agree to all terms in this policy.
Non Refundable Services
Certain fees are non refundable because the work begins immediately when the appointment is booked.
Non refundable fees include:
Travel fees
Emergency or same day booking fees
After hours fees
Apostille processing fees
Document preparation or review fees
Shipping fees
Courier fees
Notary fees once the notarial act is completed
Fees paid to state agencies on your behalf
These amounts cannot be refunded under any circumstances.
Cancellations
You may cancel an appointment before the notary begins traveling to you. If you cancel after the notary has already started traveling, the full travel fee is due.
If the notary arrives at the location and the signing cannot take place due to client issues, the full travel fee and a service fee will apply. These situations include:
No valid identification
Signer not present
Signer unwilling or unable to sign
Missing witnesses
Incomplete documents
Incorrect address provided
Unsafe or unsuitable environment
It is the client’s responsibility to ensure all conditions are met before the appointment.
Missed Appointments
If the client is not available at the scheduled time or location, this is considered a missed appointment.
Missed appointments are not refundable.
A new appointment may be scheduled with a new travel fee.
Apostille Services
Apostille services involve state agency fees, shipping costs, and document handling that begin immediately.
Apostille fees are non refundable once the process has started. This includes:
Document intake
Review of documents
Shipping to the Secretary of the Commonwealth
State filing fees
Courier or hand delivery services
If a client cancels after documents have been sent to the state office, no refund is available.
Rescheduling
Clients may request a rescheduled appointment if done before the notary begins traveling.
Rescheduling is free unless:
The notary is already in transit
The reschedule requires a new travel zone
The appointment is moved to an after hours time
The new time conflicts with existing bookings
Additional fees may apply depending on the circumstances.
No Refund for Document Rejection
Middlesex Notary Co is responsible only for performing the notarial act according to Massachusetts law.
We do not guarantee acceptance of documents by:
Banks
Courts
Agencies
Foreign governments
Schools
Private institutions
Consulates
Businesses
If a document is rejected due to factors unrelated to the notarial act, no refund will be issued.
No Refund for Legal Advice Requests
Middlesex Notary Co does not provide legal advice or document interpretation.
Clients requesting legal guidance will be referred to a licensed attorney.
No refunds will be issued because legal advice is not provided.
Payment Disputes
All disputes must be submitted in writing.
Chargebacks or unauthorized payment disputes filed after a completed service will be challenged with supporting documentation such as:
Appointment logs
Travel confirmation
GPS records
Communication history
Signed notarial certificates
Clients remain responsible for all fees for services rendered.
